Social Work Intern
Carly Edelstein is pursuing her master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons University, with additional licensure in school adjustment counseling. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and has previously worked in special education with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) model. In addition to teaching, Ms. Edelstein provided in-home therapy to students and their caregivers to ensure student success across multiple environments. She has also worked overseas in Thailand teaching English and literacy skills to elementary school students.
During the 2017-18 school year, Ms. Edelstein interned as a school adjustment counselor in the Boston Public School system providing crisis intervention as well as individual and group counseling to middle and high school students with and without disabilities. She also co-lead a group that focused on developing and maintaining executive functioning skills. As a current employee of Engaging Minds in Newton, MA, Ms. Edelstein continues to support students in her current role as an Executive Functioning Instructor.
Ms. Edelstein uses a strengths-based approach to empower her clients and is passionate about helping them seek their full potential in order to live more meaningful lives. She enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults who are experiencing difficulty around activities of daily life due to executive functioning challenges, anxiety disorders, trauma, and relationship issues.
At NESCA, Ms. Edelstein will be seeing children, adolescents and young adults for individual therapy, executive functioning coaching, community-based mentoring and various group therapies. She is excited to be a part of the NESCA team for the 2018-19 school year!
