NESCA MA Clinical Director; Pediatric & Adult Neuropsychologist
Dr. Gibbons has expertise in neuropsychological assessment of infants, children, and adolescents presenting with developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorders. She has a particular interest in assessing students with complex medical histories, genetic syndromes, and/or neurological impairments. Dr. Gibbons enjoys the opportunity to work with students who have trouble participating in standardized assessments. She strives to highlight the student’s underlying potential that might not be captured solely through test scores.
Dr. Gibbons enjoys working with young children, especially those who are transitioning from Early Intervention into preschool. Having been trained in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), Dr. Gibbons has experience diagnosing autism spectrum disorders in children aged 12 months and above. She also evaluates adults for concerns regarding ASD and ADHD.
In order to conduct a thorough evaluation, Dr. Gibbons often observes students in their school programs. She regularly participates in IEP meetings and works to create a collaborative relationship with families, school districts, and other providers. Having been at NESCA for more than a decade, Dr. Gibbons has established long relationships with many clients and loves having the chance to watch students grow and develop over the years.
Dr. Gibbons attended Brown University before earning her doctorate at Suffolk University in 2009. She joined NESCA in 2011 after completing a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Developmental Medicine Center at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Gibbons lives in Medfield, Massachusetts with her husband and two children. Being a mother to a neurodiverse child has allowed her to appreciate the joys and struggles faced by her clients daily. In between juggling a busy family schedule, Dr. Gibbons enjoys watching movies, reading, and taking walks with her dog.
Dr. Gibbons sees clients at NESCA’s office in Plainville, MA.
